The exciting, picturesque city of Seattle, Washington, provided the setting for the 17th Annual UST/LUST National Conference. Cosponsored by EPA's Office of Underground Storage Tanks, the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission, the Association of State and Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials, and the Washington State Department of Ecology, the conference was held March 14-16, 2005, at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel and Towers.
The conference focused on ways to continue the progress made in protecting human health and the environment from tank releases. The four session tracks were Prevention, Cleanups, Policy Direction/Program Management, and Workshops. Each track featured interesting, informative sessions, led by the some of the field’s most prominent experts.
The UST/LUST Expo, held in conjunction with the conference, featured exhibits of tank projects, product materials, and program tools. There were also a number of special events, including the Pre-Conference Networking Event (a boat tour of Seattle Harbor) and the Revitalized Site Tour (a bus tour of petroleum brownfields sites).
