Course Description: This Web-based course is designed to meet the training requirements for inspectors under EPA Order 3500.1.      How Cathodic Protection Works
             - Showing how a technology can use the natural process of corrosion to protect structures such as underground storage tanks and piping.
     Monitoring Cathodic Protection
             - Hands-on use of equipment to teach measurement methods such as structure-to-soil potential and continuity testing.
     Troubleshooting Techniques
             - Demonstrating how measurement techniques can impact text results. This class will also teach you how to conduct troubleshooting tests to help identify problems.
     Regulatory Requirements
             - Establishing what local, state and federal regulators expect in regards to CP testing and reporting.
     Hands on Demonstration
             - Priority will be given to hands on classroom demonstrations to clearly show how factors such as reference cell placement affect test results.
     Field Testing
             - Taking classroom lessons and applying them in the field - plan on getting dirty. Plan to spend the first afternoon at a galvanic site and the second afternoon at an impressed current site.

  • UST Inspections 101 (16 hour/24 hour): This two to three-day seminar is designed to expose new inspectors to the fundamentals of UST systems and UST regulations. Field exercises are optional.
  • UST Inspections 201 (16 hour): This advanced course helps seasoned inspectors focus on more sophisticated UST inspection issues. Field exercises, such as detailed site inspections, line testing, and cathodic protection testing can be included.
  • Automatic Tank Gauge Systems for Inspectors (8 hour/16 hour): This class is designed for inspectors who want a deeper understanding of automatic tank gauge systems. This class can be designed for field exercise activities which would add an additional day to the course time. In conjunction with CQE Systems.
  • Cathodic Protection Testing (16 hour): This course is designed to introduce students to the principles of corrosion, cathodic protection requirements, and the principal theory and application of corrosion testing.
  • AST Systems (8 hours): This course helps inform students on regulatory compliance requirements applicable to Aboveground Storage Tanks (AST) including applicability, spill prevention, control and countermeasure plans, facility response plans, storm water pollution prevention plans, and other federal requirements affect ASTs such as new source performance standards. In conjunction with Green Reviews.
  • UST Boot Camp. Our favorite - a 5-day intensive seminar for new and seasoned inspectors, operators, compliance managers or service providers.
