Frequently Asked Questions
Should I send in $95 for each renewal application?
Yes each application submitted must have a payment of $95 by check, money order or credit card to retain a valid System Inspector/Soil Evaluator certification.
What if only one application form was received but both a Soil Evaluator and System Inspector application is needed?
Additional forms are available on our renewal web page or may be requested by calling 978-323-7929.
Only one person in our office received an application form, is it okay to make a copy?
Yes, if additional forms are needed they can be downloaded from NEIWPCC website or may be copied. Just make sure the correct application is being submitted (System Inspector or Soil Evaluator).
What do I do if a renewal application was not received?
Copies of the renewal application for both System Inspectors and Soil Evaluators are available at our website www.neiwpcc.org/onsiterenewals.htm or by calling 978-323-7929.
As a PE I have received an application for the System Inspector renewal but do not practice in this field. Do I have to complete and submit the application?
According to Title 5 (310 CMR 15.000), all Professional Engineers with a concentration in civil, sanitary or environmental engineering, were automatically approved as System Inspectors. System Inspector renewal forms were sent to all of these Massachusetts PE’s to give them the option to remain System Inspectors.
As a Registered Sanitarian, Professional Engineer or Certified Health Officer, I was automatically approved as a System Inspector, do I have to send in the $95 fee and application to remain a System Inspector?
Yes, in order to remain a valid System Inspector all Registered Sanitarians, Professional Engineers and Certified Health Officers, who were previously approved, must submit an application form and the $95 fee for each application by January 1, 2007.
If my date of approval is January 1, 2005 or later, do I need to send in my renewal before January 1, 2007?
No, if the approval date is before 2005 then renewals must be submitted by 1/1/2007. If the approval date was January 1, 2005 or after the renewal application must be submitted 90 days before the expiration of 3 years.
I am a System Inspector and/or Soil Evaluator but my name is not listed on the DEP website as an approved System Inspector or Soil Evaluator. Why?
If you moved after you received your approval and did not notify DEP, the address on file may not be valid and needs to be updated so that a current address can be listed on the data base and posted on the DEP website. To change your address either provide the correct address on your renewal form or contact NEIWPCC at 978-323-7929.
When was the renewal process implemented?
The regulations (Title 5) were revised in April of 2006, providing for the renewal process for System Inspectors and Soil Evaluators.
If I am employed with a City/Town am I exempt from paying the fee?
No, anyone who wants to continue as a valid System Inspector or Soil Evaluator must submit the $95 fee and the renewal application.
What if I don’t remember what my approval date or exam date was?
The year of approval is sufficient. The date also can be obtained from the certificate that was issued to you. If this information is not available, you can call NEIWPCC at 978-323-7929.
