Green Remediation: The Sustainable Remediation Forum (SURF)

Sunday, March 29, 2009
1:00 to 5:00 PM

Presented by:
Curtis Stanley, Shell Global Solutions
Kevin Graves, California SWRCB
Paul Hadley. California Department of Toxic Substances Control
Steve Linder, EPA Region 9
Erica Becvar, HQ AFCEE/TDV
Hernando Albarracin, Illinois EPA
Stephanie Fiorenza, BP America

Green Remediation: The Sustainable Remediation Forum (also known as SURF) is a multistakeholder organization that is developing a White Paper around sustainable or green remediation. There is also a pilot program to review sustainability issues related to UST remediation systems in CA that is just starting.

Details: Workshop fee: $25. Please select workshop option when registering, no onsite registrations will be accepted. Workshops are nonrefundable.

Assessing Vapor Intrusion at Petroleum Release Sites

Sunday, March 29, 2009
1:00 to 5:00 PM

Presented by:
Harley Hopkins, American Petroleum Institute
Robin Davis, UT DEQ
Todd Ririe, BP
Blayne Hartman, H&P Mobile Geochemistry
George DeVaull, Shell Global Solutions

Abstract:
Biodegradation results in significant attenuation of petroleum vapors in the vadose zone. The goal of this workshop is to provide regulators with the most up-to-date, cost effective strategies for verifying bioattenuation and determining the significance of the vapor intrusion pathway. The workshop will emphasize principals of vapor movement and attenuation, site conceptual model development, collection of high quality data and modeling vapor attenuation.

Details: Workshop fee: $25. Please select workshop option when registering, no onsite registrations will be accepted. Workshops are nonrefundable.

Cathodic Protection and Testing for Underground Storage Tank Systems

Sunday, March 29, 2009
1:00 to 5:00 PM

Presented by:
Paul Miller, EPA HQ
Lorri Grainawi, Steel Tank Institute
Kevin Henderson, MDEQ

Abstract:
This workshop will be tailored to inspectors and others who review cathodic protection test results and will provide an understanding of corrosion protection as it relates to underground storage tank systems. Presenters with significant experience with corrosion and cathodic protection will provide information on the following: the two types of external corrosion protection commonly used for underground storage tank systems impressed current and galvanic anode cathodic protection; how cathodic protection tests are conducted; cathodic protection test criteria; and understanding cathodic protection test results.

Details: Workshop fee: $25. Please select workshop option when registering, no onsite registrations will be accepted. Workshops are nonrefundable.
