    This document provides an overview of individual state programs, with a focus on groundwater protection by summarizing New England and New York states' wellhead protection programs. The document is organized to facilitate an easy comparison of state programs to further understanding of source protection efforts. States Wellhead Protection Programs are described according to the following programmatic pieces:

  • enforcement
  • progress
  • Other state program policies influencing source protection are also included. Although the focus of this document is groundwater protection, state summaries include information on watershed protection programs.
