    What is Mercury?

Mercury is a naturally occurring element that can be toxic to humans and wildlife. The element is characterized by several unique properties – it is the only metal that is a liquid at room temperature, it vaporizes relatively easily, and it can readily combine with other metals to make amalgams. Although naturally occurring in the environment, mercury is also found in a number of household, medical, and industrial products, as well as in some school laboratories.

For more information about mercury, contact Susy King at NEIWPCC, 978-323-7929.
