Water Quality—Mercury
Mercury TMDLs
Mercury TMDLs present a difficult challenge because a significant portion of mercury pollution originates from the air and individual states cannot control out of state air emissions. Currently, EPA has approved 154 mercury TMDLs across the country. Some examples are listed below.
Integrating Atmospheric Mercury Deposition with Aquatic Cycling in South Florida: An approach for conducting a Total Maximum Daily Load analysis for an atmospherically derived pollutant
TMDL Development for Total Mercury in the Withlacoochee Watershed, Georgia
Savannah River Mercury TMDL: A Case Study (Georgia)
San Francisco Bay Mercury TMDL (California)
TMDLs for Cache Creek, Sulphur Creek, Bear Creek, and Harley Gulch (California)
