NEIWPCC Climate Change Workgroup

Over the past few decades, the Commission has provided an important forum for interstate communication on a variety of complex environmental issues by establishing issue-specific workgroups.  NEIWPCC workgroups are designed to provide the states with a structured forum to exchange information by taking a cooperative approach to address issues of regional importance.  Workgroups play an important role in developing regional strategies and policies.

NEIWPCC has established the Climate Change Workgroup, comprised of appropriate state, federal and academic staff.  This workgroup will focus on understanding the larger issue of climate change and how it relates to water resources in the Northeast.  Furthermore the workgroup will learn about opportunities for greenhouse gas mitigation from the water sector and discuss critical adaptation strategies for water resources policy and management.

For more information, contact Rebecca Weidman, NEIWPCC's director of water resource protection.
